Our quest to win the 2030 bid for the Winter Olympics brings two major competitions to Park City and Midway. Just as the Sundance Film Festival is winding down, the visitor profile will shift from “People in Black” to “People in Gore Tex and Lycra” when the FIS World Championships kick off, bringing Olympic-caliber athletes to Park City, Deer Valley and Solitude to compete in Aerials/Moguls, Half-Pipe and Skier/Snowboarder Cross. Just days later, Soldier Hollow will host the IBU Biathlon World Cup, their first international competition since the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. These two major competitions will show the world and the International Olympic Committee that we are ready, fully capable and wildly enthusiastic to host these events. And while our strongest potential is to host the 2030 Games, we are a considerable contender for 2026; that bid will be decided this June.
Come on out and enjoy watching these amazing athletes from around the globe compete in thrilling spectator events, enjoying parties and festivals surrounding both. Hope to see you in the stands or dancing on Main Street!
